Scientists who are responsible for installing [[Microwormhole|microwormholes]] in new areas of the galaxy are called Wormhole Engineers. They travel on [[Daedalus (ship)|Daedalus transports]] to uninhabited star systems, usually while in [[stasis]] to minimize the energy requirements of the ship. Upon arriving at their destination, they assess the potential value of the system and either enter the ship into a stable orbit or land it. The [[microwormhole]] is then enlarged to accommodate human travel between the ship's origin and destination systems.
