Opened in 2042, the wormhole at Sirius Station improved the triangulation established at Alpha Centauri. It allowed the detection of habitable planets in the Epsilon Indi (Bellona) and Epsilon Eridani (Janus) systems. Both would go on to become important economic centers, Bellona due to its ease of communication and transportation to Sol and later Fomalhaut, and Janus due to its function as a hub in the systems beyond Sirius. While initially solely scientific in function, the station had to be largely rebuilt once Janus became an important economic center to allow for increased transportation of goods, persons, and data between Janus and Earth. The Sirius Conflict began after the destruction of the original wormhole to Janus, after which a second wormhole was constructed to Janus, connecting the rest of space with the Sirius Military Consulate.
